This is where we post the latest news on marketing.

Not the kind of news that you read about in Marketing Magazine or Camapaign Magazine, this is the kind of news that we pick up from networking with clients, real world stuff that you can use everyday. Oh yes of course it's all free.

May 2007

Warm weather in the UK has heralded in an early start to the summer season, people spend more when the weather is better, a new positivity emerges so a good time to do some prospecting for new clients.

Direct Mail still has some life in it, you just have to be more innovative than before!

Write some fresh letters, spruce up your brochures and get those new clients in.

April 2007

Printing technology has certainly moved along in leaps and bounds. Digital print is now almost as good quality as traditional litho print. So what you say? Well you can now do very small print runs at reasonable cost and really target those mailers to specific groups. Ready, aim FIRE!

March 2007

Budget time! Many local authorites have new budgets or are spending what is left of the previous years, get in quick and take advantage, as we always say, you snooze you lose!

Febuary 2007

A good time to plan those spring campaigns, people are starting to shake off the winter break and planning new activity and are investing in equipment and services

January 2007

Changes to the UK postal charging system means that many direct mailers have changed the size of their mailing designs.

Most have now changed to A5 size rather than A4 which personally I prefer as I was just plain bored with A4.

A few bulk mailers got caught out and saw a dramatic increase in postage costs at around the time of the change.

December 2006

The silly season for most companies, winding down for the Christmas holidays, with some clients planning their 2007 activities.

A good time to update websites and all those other little jobs you just don't get time to do the rest of the year.

November 2006

One of my regular clients has been having outstanding success with integrating web and mailing campaigns.

The mailer drives traffic to the website where visitors can get a web specail offer, only available to visitors to the website.

This has a two fold outcome; not only does it help to sell products it boosts traffic to the website.

When we studied the data we found that visitors to the website spent 3 times more than they would spend when calling the client on the phone.

Simple idea, powerful results.

October 2006

Just come back from the NEC Birmingham, having organised 4 exhibitions for my regular clients. Record visitors attended and some great business done,

When organising exhibitions don't overlook the basics;

Badges; all staff should have them

Names; Make sure you collect the names of ALL the people you speak to

Eating; Don't eat on the stand, it is a really bad image

Breaks ; take plenty, you will be sharper for it

Enjoy yourself; It is hard work but if you look like you are having fun, you will pull those vistors in.
